Ginger Citrus Shots
Inspired by recipes online for home made ginger shots!
Ingredients
- 1-2” piece of ginger root, peeled
- 1/2 lemon, peeled
- 1/2 orange, peeled
- 1/2 apple, peeled
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp ginger powder
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)
- 1/2 tsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
- Pinch of cayenne or cinnamon (optional)
- 1 cup water (or other juice you want to use up from your fridge)
Instructions
Chop peeled ginger, citrus and apple into chunks (size of the pieces depends on the strength of your blender).
Put ginger & fruit into 500 ml (2 cup) blending cup or blender.
Add spices, optional items noted above (or other spices, as desired).
Pour in ACV, enough water (or juice) to cover fruit - to the “fill line” (about 400 ml or 1-2/3 cups).
Blend well (1-2 mins).
Strain to remove pulp.
Note: I re-blend the pulp with an equivalent amount of water (1/4 c pulp + 1/4 c water) to get more juice. Then strain again.
Pour a shot, add a splash of AVC and enjoy!
Makes 1-1/2 - 2 cups of ginger juice.
Pour remaining ginger juice into a glass storage jar and keep chilled.
Give your jar a shake and enjoy a spicy immune-boosting, digestive system supporting and anti-inflammatory shot!
